The Travelling Seminar is a German-Russian summer school, which alternatingly is organized in Russia and Germany. About a dozen German and a dozen Russian students participate in a two-week course on the scientific topic of nanomaterials and large-scale research facilities. The seminar aims for Master students, possibly for last year Bachelors or first year PhD students.
During the seminar, we travel in between different major cities to visit universities and large-scale research facilities, i.e. synchrotron and neutron radiation facilities, possible space centers or national laboratories for nanomaterials, etc. We receive talks by renowned scientists and each participant gives a talk in relation to the topic of the seminar. Besides the science, we take the opportunity to get in touch with the different cultures and explore the major sights of the cities.
The program and participants' experiences from the last years are collected in annual brochures.
Former participants reported on their experiences in student blogs:
The programme is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research, the Ural Federal University (Ekaterinburg), and the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
